Serena Bankert

Buffalo Grove, Illinois,The funeral service for Serena E. Bankert (nee Mikel), 72, will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington, where there will be visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend David Zinck will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington. Born May 24, 1938, in Chicago, Mrs. Bankert passed away Monday, November 22, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Bankert enjoyed shopping, gardening, her koi pond, and spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Rex. Survivors include her husband, Robert J., whom she married December 9, 1956, in Chicago;sons, Robert (Sharon) Bankert Jr. of Sleepy Hollow, Jed (Katherine) Bankert of Cary, Nathan (Donna) Bankert of McHenry, and Daren Bankert of Buffalo Grove; grandchildren, Jason Bankert, Jed Jarvin Jr., Gary, Travis, Anthony Bankert, and Jamie, Brandon, Ryan Bankert; great-grandson, Jesus Angel Munoz; sister, Madeline Murray; and brother, Mike (Patricia) Mikel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Laberta (nee Le Gross) Mikel; and brothers Bud and Loren Mikel.
