Sharon Kerkhoff Morris

Sharon passed away peacefully March 14, 2018 at her home in Barrington with her loving family by her side.

Sharon was born March 9, 1957 in New Orleans, LA to Robert and Nell (Hill) Kerkhoff.  She was raised in Natchez, MS.  The middle of the three lovingly close Kerkhoff sisters – Jonell, Sharon and Barbara - Sharon grew up immersed in the southern culture of close family, charm, home cooking, kindness and charity.  She held fast to these values throughout her life and brought her warm southern hospitality to family and friends at homes around the world as she and Jim raised their family in Florida, Singapore, England, Texas and finally Chicagoland.

Sharon received her BA in Computer Science from the University of Florida, and her MBA from Florida Atlantic University. She began her business career with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, FL as a Computer Systems Analyst and supervisor.

In 1988, Sharon and James P. Morris married in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.  They moved to Singapore the following year and spent seven of the next nine years as expatriates supporting Jim’s rising career with Motorola.  During the next 25 years the family made homes in Ft. Worth, TX, Virginia Water, Surrey, England and Barrington, IL.  As Sharon’s two sons grew in these homes Sharon is remembered for her unending energy supporting them in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and endless other activities.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 30 years, James; children, Bryan James and Sean Robert Morris; sisters, Jonell (Neal Dando) Kerkhoff and Barbara (Scott) Semple; brother-in-law Kenneth (Elizabeth) Morris; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 3pm until the funeral service at 6pm, Monday, March 19 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Rd.), Barrington.  Sharon will be interred and rest in eternal peace next to her loving parents in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
