Sharon Louise Zalesky passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2018. Sharon was a loving wife, amazing mother, and treasured grandmother. She was the kindest person one could ever hope to meet. Sharon left the world a better place because she was in it, and she will be missed.
Sharon was a programmer/analyst at Abbott Labs and a financial analyst at Allstate before leaving the workforce to raise a family and begin active volunteer work. Over the years she was an active member of the Junior League of Chicago, the Auxiliary Board of Good Shepherd Hospital, and Art in the Barn in Barrington. She was a long time volunteer at the information desk at Good Shepherd Hospital, and a founder and supporter of the Y-ME Breast Cancer group at Good Shepherd. Sharon was a dear friend to many at Y-Me, and offered support and comfort to so many breast cancer patients and their families.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim; son David (Esther) Zalesky of Chicago; grandchildren Sarah and Nate; and sister Ann Cannon. She was preceded in Death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth, mother Mabel, and brother Tim.
Memorial visitation will be 10am until the memorial service at 12pm Wednesday, May 30 at Davenport Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chicago Jesuit Academy, www.chicagojesuitacademy.org. (Chicago Jesuit Academy is a full-scholarship middle school for low-income families on the west side of Chicago. Sharon's son David teaches at the school.)
