Shirley A. Seidel

Shirley A. Seidel, 85, of Crystal Lake and Barrington, IL passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016 in California. She was born on July 21, 1931 in Waterloo, IA to Bert and Dorothy (nee Meyer) Letchford. Shirley was united in marriage to James Seidel on August 7, 1948 in Chicago. They celebrated 38 years of marriage until his death in 1987.

Shirley was a hard-working woman who loved her family, and she loved cooking for family gatherings. Her deviled eggs were always a family favorite. She would do anything to help people who were in need.

Through all of the trials and tragedies life sent her way, Shirley always had hope for things to come. Shirley is survived by her children Linda and Jim (Mary Lu) Seidel; her grandchildren Jim Herron, Matt (Cheryl) Sarvis, Chrissy (Chip) Olsen, James (Kate) Seidel, Grace Seidel, and Sam Seidel; and her great grand children Marty, Caden, Emma and Bethany.

In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Jeff; daughter, Dolly; and by her parents.

Memorial gathering will be Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 10 AM until the 11 AM memorial service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Inurnment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
