Shirley grew up in Bellwood and graduated Proviso West High school in Hillside. After high school, Shirley married Jim on January 23, 1965 then settled in Hanover Park to raise their family. She was a homemaker and loved fishing, gardening, knitting, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a big fan of Elvis, Neil Diamond, Days of Our Lives, onion rings and all the chocolate she could find.
Over the last few years, Shirley spent time with family teaching her kids all her cooking and gardening secrets. She enjoyed her visitors and calling her family in the evenings. She will be missed by her many wonderful caregivers throughout the last few years. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses, especially The Heathers Senior Home in Lake in the Hills, who gave her more care and love then we could ever have hoped for.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2, from 1pm until the time of a service at 2pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal Lake.
