Sophia Nikolich

Sophia Nikolich of Lake Barrington, IL passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024 at the age of 90, after a brief illness. Sophia was the loving wife of John, her husband of 53 years (deceased), and devoted mother of John (Annette) and Gregory (Tricia) and loving grandmother of Reed (Lena Nelson), Tyler (Jordan Voller), Juliana & Emily. Adored aunt to many nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many. 

Sophia was born on September 30, 1934 in Srebana, Lomza, Poland to Jozef and Natalia (Gawrychowska) Kolota. She lived in Russia, Persia, Africa and England during WWII. Her family emigrated to the United States in 1951 and resided in Chicago. Sophia lived for many decades in Barrington, dedicating her life to raising her children and grandchildren.

Sophia ran a successful real estate brokerage company in the city for over 35 years with her husband John. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and her siblings Stella Kielczewski and Kazimierz Kolota. 

Sophia will be celebrated at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 10:30 am at Saint Anne Catholic Community Church, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
