Stephen R. Kraft

Stephen R. Kraft, of Barrington, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 68.

He was born November 14, 1953 in Chicago, the son of the late Joseph and Eileen (nee Stanton) Kraft.

Stephen was raised in Edgebrook, IL where he attended elementary school at St. Marys of the Woods and went on to attend and play baseball at Notre Dame High School in Niles, IL. He continued his education receiving his BA in Business from the University of Illinois, Chicago. While raising his family in Barrington, IL Steve was an active member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church where he was a member of the Cardinals Men’s Baseball League for which he played for 10+ years, into his 50s and where he and Dawn made many friends. He passed on his love of baseball through coaching various Barrington Park District teams. Steve was employed at Precision Steel Warehouse for 40 years where he held many roles, most recently as Marketing Manager before retiring in 2019. Steve was a devoted family man, husband, father and grandfather. He was deeply loved and he will forever be missed.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Dawn; his daughters, Kathleen (Aaron) Auscavitch and Shannon (Nathan) Birch; his two grandchildren; his siblings, Michael Kraft, Thomas Kraft, Margaret Whalen, James Kraft, Kay Schneider; sister-in-law, Linda Kraft; and 18 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph John Kraft.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.) Barrington. The funeral Mass will be held the following day, Friday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington. Burial will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines.

Donations may be made in Stephen’s memory to Comprehensive Transplant Center (CTC) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
