Steve Kalisik, Jr. of Syracuse, Indiana, passed away at his son’s home surrounded by family on Monday, December 17, 2012.
Steve was born December 26, 1925 to the late Magdalene (nee Mistrik) and Steve Kalisik in Rossford, Ohio. He graduated from Rossford High School and served in the Navy during World War II. Steve married the late Ilene Whelan in Chicago in 1947 and they stayed united for 64 years. During those years they raised four children while living in Bensenville, Illinois.
Steve worked in the automobile repair industry for 45 years. He was active in the Bensenville little league and was an avid Cub and Notre Dame Fan. Steve was also a member of the American Legion and Grace Lutheran Church of Syracuse, Indiana. Steve spent his retired years living in Syracuse, Indiana, where he enjoyed fishing, boating and working around the house.
Steve is survived by his children, Sandra (Glen) Andler of Lake Zurich, Steve (Juli) Kalisik of Sebastian, Florida, James (Marcia) Kalisik of Woodstock, and Richard (Theresa) Kalisik of Streamwood; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceding Steve in death was his loving wife of 64 years, Ilene.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, December 22 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the memorial service at 12 noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steve’s name may be given to the Syracuse Food Pantry, 203 E Main St, Syracuse IN 46567 or Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Rd, Barrington IL 60010.
