Steve Charles Karson

Steve Charles Karson, born August 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL, he died May 5, 2022 in Barrington, IL.  He passed from this earth surrounded by family. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane Healy on August 2, 1952. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2011.

Steve graduated from DePaul University School of Business and then served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. His career consisted of managing private country clubs for 42 years, retiring in 2000.

Steve is survived by his children, Steve Karson Jr. (Christine), and Lisa Ann Bach (George), and Patrick Gries, his son-in-law; grandchildren, Brandon (Jagoda), Karson (Jessica), Kenny (Michelle), Lindsay M.D., Emily Sue (Nicholas), Alexander (Alexandra), Chelsea M.D., Anneliese (Eddie), Ashley, and Liam; great-grandchildren, Olivia Allyson, James, Natalie August, and Charlotte Sue; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.  His greatest pride was his family. Steve will be very much missed, and no exciting news or accomplishments will be the same if we cannot tell Grandpa.

In addition to his parents and wife, Betty Jane, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Allyson Sue Gries; and siblings, Bruno (Rose), Bernice (Peter), Louis (Marie) and Ann (Eddie).

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12th at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue Friday, May 13th from 8:30 a.m. until prayers held at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a procession to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Crystal Lake for the funeral Mass at 10 a.m.  Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.
