Steven P. Burgess

Steven Paul Burgess passed away at his home February 23, 2025. He was born November 4, 1952, in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Marjorie Burgess.

Steve attended St. Patrick High School (class of 1970) and graduated from Bradley University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He worked as a State Farm Insurance Agent for 44 years in Chicago, IL, helping numerous individuals, families, and businesses protect themselves during challenging times.

He was avid sportsman and golfer, he especially loved to run track, ski, and bowled for many years with childhood friends. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and Chicago Bears fan, even traveling as far as London to enjoy a Cubs-Cardinals match up in June 2023 with his grandson Owen.

He will be remembered for his kindness to strangers, generosity with those close to him, often private nature, and especially for his dry and witty sense of humor.

Steve is survived by his children, Amanda Burgess (Joseph Goldschmidt), and Patrick (Letícia) Burgess; grandchildren, Owen and Finn Goldschmidt; and longtime girlfriend, Judy Tracy.

A memorial visitation will be from 10am until the Eulogy Service at 12pm Sunday March 2 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Road) Barrington. Interment will be private.
