Susan Gorecki, 69, of Lake Zurich passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021 at JourneyCare in Barrington. She was born on May 6, 1951 in Chicago to the late Anthony and Grace Viveros. She outlived her older brother David Viveros.
Susan was the devoted wife of Michael Gorecki. Together since August 28, 1982, they married on June 28, 1996. She was the loved and admired aunt of Anthony & Heather Viveros; doggie mother to Sophie, Lexie & Chloe; cherished by her friend and neighbor, Sharon and her late husband Jim Bullion; and beloved by Karen & Robert Parfitt who truly became her best friends in her last year.
Susan grew up in Skokie, Illinois with her parents & brother. Her father, Tony, played drums at The Drake hotel in Chicago and she always had a keen ear for music. Musicians in her family gave her a love for jazz, classic rock & all other genres. She later worked at Joseph Salon Shoes in the Chicagoland area from 1969 to 1985 where she honed her eye for style & fashion. Some would say that shopping and interior design were her pastimes and passions. Susan was an immense animal lover and she loved her dogs like children and loved feeding all the birds and “critters” in her back yard in Lake Zurich. Susan’s favorite holiday of the year was always Christmas and the Lord blessed her to see this last one in 2020 with her niece and nephew.
Susan & Michael were together for almost 40 years and loved visiting Saugatuck, Michigan every year. Susan & Michael were only apart for less than six months in this world and now they rest easy in each other’s arms and God’s grace.
A memorial is planned for later this year in Saugatuck to spread their ashes together in final peace.
