Ted E. Duke

Ted Emil Duke of Barrington, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Jean (Bofinger) Duke, his brother, Ned Duke, and wife of 52 years, Penny (Williams) Duke. He is survived in death by his son, Adam T. Duke (Susan), his daughter, Eden Melanie Duke (Matt), and his beloved grandchildren Duke, Hunter, and Killian.

Born on April 16, 1942, Ted was raised in Chicago. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1960, where he excelled as a swimmer and gymnast. Ted and his family were members of Turner Camp in Fox River Grove where he cherished many summers with friends and family. Ted attended North Park Academy and College in Chicago.

Ted enjoyed a distinguished career in construction, serving as a respected Project Manager, Vice President, and Developer. Ted loved spending time outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, golfing, and mowing his lawn. He looked forward to Thursday lunches with friends in his book club. Ted had a strong love for his many dogs and hunting pheasants with dogs at Halter Wildlife. Ted’s storytelling abilities and humor captivated the attention of every person in a room.
