Terrence Philip Harris

October 5, 1942 — June 15, 2023

Davenport, Crystal Lake

Terrence Philip Harris, age 80, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Terry was born on October 5, 1942, in Chicago, IL, though, his first love, was his grandparent’s farm in Wisconsin. Terry grew up in Mundelein with his little sister and enjoyed playing sports with neighborhood friends and making music at school. Terry served as a PFC in the USMC from 1964-1970. Terry learned to play guitar and banjo and loved to sing, performing in several bands, acts, and even as a soloist. In the 60s and 70s, you could hear Ter’s music all across the area - anywhere from The Del Bar to the Last Chance Saloon. During those years, Terry met Patricia. They married in 1976, and started their family. Terry commuted to the city for over 25 years, making friends while he worked for United Insurance Company of America. During his family days, Terry spent every extra minute with his kids playing outside, enjoying the sun, and teaching them a love of sports, including bike riding the local trails. Later in life, Terry retired and began working nights at Healthbridge in Crystal Lake. He loved chatting with others in the community, swimming at his pool, and gardening. Terry was a voracious reader and student of history, also pouring time into studying family genealogy. He was an absolute adoring grandfather and, when he wasn’t spoiling his grandkids, he enjoyed following his passions as a devoted Packer fan who also loved ships, trains, and board games. Terrence is survived by his loving children, Corey (Jeffrey) Spella and Timothy (Teanna) Harris; grandchildren, Kathryn, Ethan, Auston, Evan, Sophia, and Mia; sister, Bonnie (George) Hellickson and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma Harris nee Becker.
