Barrington, Illinois,Graveside services with military honors for Tom E. Kolacia, 88, of Barrington, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 20 2009 at Evergreen Cemetery, 610 Dundee Avenue, Barrington. Born August 17, 1921 in Bettendorf, Iowa, he passed away peacefully November 17, 2009 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Tom worked in the tool and die industry as a plastic mold maker, retiring in 1991. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he served under Patton?s 3rd Army at the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and in Central Europe. He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include daughters Cynthia (David) Wichman of Bull Valley and Pamela (Lawrence) Andersen of Lakeville, MN, and son Thomas A. Kolacia of Englewood, FL; granddaughter Heather Ann (Robert) Intress and grandson David Thomas Wichman; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Spencer Robert Intress. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve M. (nee Hornof), whom he married July 31, 1944 in Cicero, and his sister Vlasta DeVita.
