Ulla Brandt

Ulla Stina Brandt, of Barrington, IL passed away peacefully on December 2, 2011. She was born on May 4,1927, In Orebro, Sweden to Fritz and Kristina Gustafsson.

She was married to her high school sweetheart Ake J. Brandt, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded by her eldest son Peter Brandt in 1997.

She is survived by her 4 children, Staffan (Alice)Brandt, Pia (Charles) Lobraico, Thomas (Megan) Brandt, Helene (Norman) Bamesberger; grandchildren Michael Brandt, Tracy (Joseph) Kearney, Kelly (Todd) Jones, Staffan Brandt, Kristin (Jason) Patterson, Chad (Lindsey) Brandt, Ashley (Daniel) Lorrabee, Colin Brandt, Bridget Brandt, Christian Brandt, Whitney Brandt, and Tyler Bamesberger; 12 great grandchildren; and sister AnnBrit Jenhander.

In 1957, Ulla and Ake were transferred to the United States. They arrived with 5 children in tow, none of which spoke any English. Ulla was left with the duties of teaching them English and raising them while Ake often travelled for business purposes. After being a homemaker for many years, and the children were grown, she was able to put her Commercial Art degree to use by way of interior design. She loved all the arts and played the piano, but her great love was painting.

Ulla was a strong, loving mother, and friend. Her sense of humor, dignity, and grace will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation for Ulla will be held on Tuesday December 6,2011, from 4pm until the time of service at 5pm, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, (Lake Cook Road), Barrington. Interment will be private.
