Ulrich “Rick” Frank Michael Volkmann, age 66, passed away in his home in Cary, IL on Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was born August 1, 1950 in Weimar, Germany. Rick was married on May 23, 1981 to Audrey Louise Jennings.
Rick was a Quality Inspection Supervisor at Smalley Steel Ring, a job which he loved very much. He was loved and respected by many there. He lived for his family, wife Audrey and daughter Kim and his work. He was extremely passionate about watching his daughter Kim dance and making sure she got a good and full education.
His faith in God sustained him throughout his life. He was proud of his German heritage and he was equally proud to live in America.
Rick was a huge Green Bay Packers Fan. He was also passionate about soccer and playing war game reenactment where he could plan strategies. His music interests included Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, classic rock and the Big Bands. His dream car was a red Jaguar.
Survivors include his wife Audrey; daughter Kim; brothers-in-law Roger Huseby, Bill (Connie) Jennings; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Jennings, Ellen Eggers; and 5 nieces, 8 nephews, 13 great-nieces and 9 great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margarete Sommer Volkmann; sister Karin Huseby; and brothers-in-law, Bob Jennings and Ron Eggers.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 9 AM until 11 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
