Uriah James Woodin

January 13, 2012 — December 11, 2023

Davenport, Crystal Lake

Uriah James Woodin went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2023, at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. He was born on January 13, 2012, to Margaret and Jonathan Woodin in Chicago. Uriah is survived by his parents; brother, Rex; maternal grandparents, Mark and Gloria Shilkus; paternal grandparents, Gary and Kathleen Woodin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Uriah loved connecting with people, whether that was at church, the doctor’s office, or even just in the grocery store. He had a way of pulling people in, sometimes with his smile, other times with his hands.

He had the sweetest smile. He wasn’t able to talk, but you always knew his opinion. His facial expressions communicated everything. He could light up a room with the joy that spilled out of him. Happiness radiated out of him. He couldn’t help himself when a door or drawer was open, he had to slam them closed. This was usually followed by a cheeky grin showing just how proud of himself he was. He loved movement. He laughed so hard when he bounced or when he rode a ride at Disney.

He would laugh so much it would make him throw up. His laugh was contagious and you couldn’t help but to join in. Most of the time, if you were near him he would either be holding your hand or pulling you down to be closer to him. He didn’t want to sit still for cuddling too often, but he loved to just lay with his head on his brother, Rex. He loved to be on the go. He was always exploring new places, always looking for a new adventure. He is now onto his next adventure. Although we will not be joining him yet, we know we have hope in the Lord and that someday we will be catching up with him.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Monday, December 18, at Harvest Bible Chapel, 580 Tracy Trail in Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue at 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am on Tuesday, December 19, at the church. Burial will follow for family and close friends at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.

Donations may be made to the family to help cover funeral expenses and to create a memorial garden in Uriah’s name. Donations will be accepted during the visitation and service (please make checks out to Jonathan or Margaret Woodin), but for those donating from afar, a GoFundMe has been created in Uriah’s name: https://gofund.me/ca661002
