Visitation for Vera M. Stephensen (nee Pierini), 84, of Harwood Heights, formerly of Chicago, will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Father Jack Dewes will officiate. Interment will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove. Born March 8, 1926, in Chicago, she passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. She had worked for Emerson Electric, formerly Appleton Electric for 40 years, where she retired as a purchasing agent in 1996. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Vera was a very independent woman. She loved her work, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Robert (Susan) Catalano of Fox Lake and Linda Corso of Streamwood; seven grandchildren, Brian (Kim) and Craig (Maureen) Catalano, Amy (Scott) Goodale, Vince (Kristin) and Kim Corso, Chris (Diane) Grannis and TJ (Susan) Gruber; many loving great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marion Wrzesinski, Dorothy Erickson and Rita Breitbart; a sister-in-law, Mary Pierini; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan P. Stephensen; a daughter-in-law, Patricia J. Catalano (nee Fick), a granddaughter, Dana Kussmann (nee Catalano); her parents, Frank and Clara (nee Minghetti) Pierini; a brother, John Pierini; and her brothers-in-law, Henry Wrzesinski, Mel Erickson and Herb Breitbart.
