Vernon Andrew Ciske, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday January 4, 2022.
Vernon was born in Chicago, IL on June 27, 1924. He served his country honorably during World War II as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps. After his service, Vernon attended the University of Illinois, where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. He then moved to Cary, IL with his bride in 1951 and resided there until his passing in 2022. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Vernon is survived by his loving children, Robin Melka of Cary, IL., Debra Ciske of Chicago, IL., Kitty Ciske (William Hazelgrove) of St. Charles, IL., Brett Ciske (Amy Ciske) of Cary, IL. Along with his grandchildren, Jaclyn Melka, Danielle Melka, Clay Hazelgrove, Mary Tomberlin, Callie Hazelgrove, Andrew Ciske, Careen Hazelgrove, Charlie Ciske and Elizabeth Ciske.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Ciske, his sister Lorraine Matiya, and his brothers, Clayton and Warner Ciske.
A private committal service for Vernon will be held in the chapel at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, IL on Saturday January 15, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vernon’s name to the Salvation Army. (The Salvation Army gave Vernon his first bike when he was a child.)
