After a 14-year courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Veronica passed away peacefully Saturday January 23, 2021. Veronica J. Hoehne was born in Chicago to Antoinette (nee Zielinski) and Frank Sikorski on April 15, 1961.
She grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois with three older siblings: Mark, Andy and Valerie. She attended St. Emily Catholic School and graduated from Maine Township High School North. Veronica went to University of Illinois at Chicago before transferring to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating with a BS in Computer Science in May 1983. After college, she began her career at GTE where she met her future husband, Lawrence Hoehne.
After getting married at St. Emily’s in November 1986, Lawrence and Veronica raised Dan, Steven and Emily in Lake Zurich, Illinois where she left her career as a Software Engineer to become a stay-at-home mom. She pridefully participated in activities with her kids including trips to waterparks, being the #1 fan at her children’s sporting events, as well as planning family vacations.
In addition to her love of being able to spend every day with her children, Veronica had an extreme passion for exercise. Most of her free time was spent at her health club on top of teaching fitness classes at the local Park District.
In January 2007, Veronica was first diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. She overcame the disease until its reoccurrence in 2016. She valiantly fought her battle until the very end.
Throughout her life, Veronica has touched so many people and will be remembered as the most energetic, caring, compassionate, resilient person. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend to many. She will truly be missed and mourned forever.
Veronica is survived by her husband, Lawrence; children, Daniel (fiancé Lauren), Steven, and Emily (fiancé Vito); siblings, Mark (Mary Lou) Sikorski, Andy (Peggy) Sikorski, and Valerie (Ken) Stippich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Antoinette Sikorski.
