Virginia Scott Grom, 67
Of St. Charles, formerly of Barrington
Born February 26, 1948, in Madison, WI, Virginia Scott Grom passed away peacefully June 12, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Ginny’s life took her on many adventures and she was actively planning her next adventures at the time of her passing. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a BA and a Masters Degree in Education. She spent the majority of her career teaching at Wheaton North High School, where she retired in 1996. She was an active volunteer in Barrington and enjoyed going to the beach, attending plays and musicals, being creative, and spending time with her family.
In 1978, Ginny was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and later Lyme disease. While a difficult diagnosis, she refused to be defined by her disease. Through her determination, strong will and perseverance, Ginny maintained her independence until the end. She was an amazing role model to her two sons and many who met her.
Ginny is survived by two sons; J.D. (Stacy) Grom, and Rob (Amanda Horngren) Grom; grandson Jack; siblings; Pat (John) Foote, Linda (Jim) Resser, Charlie (Kim) Scott, and Carole (Sam) Poyner, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Lois (nee Baird) Scott.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 20th, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake-Cook), Barrington, where the family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
