Virginia Hanson

Virginia “Ginny” Hanson, 74, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2017 after a 3 year battle with Multiple System Atrophy. She was born May 17, 1942 in Chicago to Edward and Florence (nee Burke) Scholl.
Ginny was a poet, artist and recently published author of Journey Home. She was an avid golfer at Biltmore Country Club, where she was a member for 37 years. She was an outdoor enthusiast, where she loved to spend time gardening, walking, skiing and swimming. Ginny loved games, especially Bridge and was a member of three time world champion, Melodeers, a Sweet Adeline’s group. Throughout her life she was an avid volunteer for various charitable causes. More than anything, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Ginny will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Hanson; her children, Meg (Dan) Donoghue, Jennifer Norton, Bob (Naisy) Hanson, Erica (Frank) Matagrano; grandchildren, Bess, Bo and Millie Donoghue, Cassie, Andie and Curt Norton, Nick, Bobby and Leah Hanson; her siblings, Alice Wells, Marilyn Zwick, Bob Scholl, Jane Brenner and Jim Scholl. Many loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ed Scholl.
Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2 PM until 9 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 28, at 10 AM at Barrington Presbyterian Church, 6 Brinker Rd., Barrington. All are invited to go directly to church. A Celebration of Life Luncheon to immediately follow at Biltmore Country Club, 160 Biltmore Dr., North Barrington, IL.
