Virginia Frances Moyzis, 96, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Chicago and Homer Glen, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017. Virginia was born May 21, 1921 in Chicago to Frank and Emily Spurney. She was married on Dec. 1, 1944 in Chicago to Raymond Moyzis, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Dwight) Dalton of Crystal Lake, Jeanne (Joseph) Curry of Frisco, TX, and Michael Moyzis of Frankfort, IL, and her grandchildren, Scott (Tatum) Curry of Prosper, TX; Christina (Jason) Whitworth of Forestville, CA; Maclain Moyzis, Payton Moyzis, Elise (Kevin) Menard and Evan Baden, all of Frankfort. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Andrew Curry and Katelynn Curry, both of Prosper, TX, and Addyson Menard of Frankfort; and by her sister, Lorraine Zehr of Barrington.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Sirovatka; and by her brother George Spurney.
Virginia received a BS in Education from Chicago State University and taught junior high at St. Rene and St. Bruno schools in Chicago. She also substitute taught for the Chicago Public Schools. She loved to travel and especially liked time she spent in Colorado and Montana.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A prayer service will be held at noon. Burial will be private.
