Virginia “Ginny” Rutigliano died peacefully on March 9, 2017 at the age of 79 in Cary, IL where she resided for the past 4 years with her daughter Toni at her side. She was a long-time resident of Yorktown Heights and will be remembered for her tenacity and the unending love of her family. She is survived by her three children, Toni Callahan and her husband Brad, Dori Abel and her husband Brian, Vito Rutigliano and his wife Karen, along with 8 grandchildren, Shane, Tyler, Cody, Tanner, Dalton, Kavianna, Gavriella and Vito III.
She was born in Kansas City, MO and traveled the Mid and Northwest before marrying Vito Rutigliano, who predeceased her in 1977. Ginny served in the U.S. Army Women’s Corp. as a cryptographer where she met her husband Vito, and the family resided in Bronx, NY before establishing roots in Yorktown in 1973, where she continued raising her family. She would later join the Yorktown Police Department as a Dispatcher where she served 20 years before retiring. She also served as President of the local Civil Service Employees Association for many years and believed in serving her constituents.
Ginny was an avid bowler and played golf, but what she enjoyed most in life was her children and grandchildren. She was a loyal friend, a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be at the Clark Funeral Home 2104 Saw Mill River Rd (Route 202/35), Yorktown Heights, NY on March 18th at 10:30 am to 11:30 am, then a brief service with the burial to immediately follow at Amawalk Hill Cemetery, 2445 Quaker Church Rd, Yorktown Heights, NY.
