Barrington, Illinois,Virginia "Ginny" Steinmetz of Barrington since 1959 The Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia "Ginny" Bell Steinmetz (nee Benjamin), 87, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 21, at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St. (at the corner of Franklin St.), Barrington, where she will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m., Wednesday, October 20 at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Born November 14, 1922, in Terra Haute, IN, she passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010, in Barrington. Ginny was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She spent many years devoted to her family and in service to St. Joseph school for the Deaf. She was an incredible role model and strength to her family. She had a magnetic sense of humor and was very charismatic. Ginny was passionate about sports, a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, loved her soaps and "The Price is Right", she was a natural at the piano and enjoyed golf in the day. She entertained anyone that came to visit or be of service to her; she will be missed dearly. She had an amazing attitude for all that she weathered on her journey here and is free now. Surely she is celebrating with her circle that have passed before her, spreading her love, humor and kicking up her heels. Survivors include her seven children, Kenneth R. Steinmetz, Jr. of Barrington, William G. (Maureen) Steinmetz of Pompano Beach, FL, Timothy J. (Amy) Steinmetz of Charlotte, NC, Teresa A. Jennings of Barrington, Julie Steinmetz of Salt Lake City, UT, Virginia L. (Robert) Ballantine of Hudson, WI, and Christopher B. Steinmetz of Chicago; 15 grandchildren, Kimberly, Gregory, Timothy Jr., Elizabeth, Michael, Katie, Jennifer Steinmetz, Tawney Denn, Samantha, Jaime, and Charlie Dwyer, Matthew and Kelly Jennings, and Ellie and Alec Ballantine; ten great-grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, and Hannah Steinmetz, Angelica, Jaden, and Reina Werth, Sawyer Denn, Aaron Bucher, Corey Campbell and Katie Phillips; and nephews and niece, Richard Steinmetz and Tom and Janine Ratcliffe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Steinmetz, Sr.; son, Jeffrey E. Steinmetz; parents, Evan and Lucy Benjamin; siblings, Thomas Benjamin and Mae Ratcliffe; and niece, Diane Ratcliffe.
