Virginia Fay Wheeler, 92, of Cary, formerly of Ottawa, died on Saturday, May 5th, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL.
Mrs. Wheeler was born on April 16, 1926 in Manlius, IL, to James and Mary Ballard. She married J. Earl Wheeler on August 12, 1947, in Manlius.
Virginia attended Huntington College and was a “Rosie the Riveter”, making airplane parts for WWII military use. She was a homemaker, an activities assistant at Ottawa Care Pavilion, and a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou (John) Doogan of Cary, IL; a son, David (Kelly) Wheeler of Walsenburg, CO; two grandsons, John (Kendall) Doogan of Knoxville, TN and Christian (Tere) Doogan of Lake Bluff, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Mary Margaret Lubbs; and a granddaughter, Cori Conklin.
To honor Virginia’s wishes, a private service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton, IL.
