Vivian Mary Brotko (Bialy), beloved Wife, Mom and Grandma passed away on the morning of April 2, 2025 at the age of 77. Exactly one day after her 58th wedding anniversary to Matthew R Brotko who she married on April 1, 1967. She was born July 31, 1947 in a German “displaced persons” camp at the end of WWII to Polish parents who had been Nazi prisoners. She arrived with her parents in America, landing in Boston on the U.S.S. Hershey at age 3. It is speculated that her lifelong love of Hershey bars may have started here.
Viv and Matt moved to Schaumburg in 1972 where they stayed until 2024. Vivian became a United States citizen in 1976 and truly believed it was a privilege to have the right to vote. Viv had a variety of interesting jobs, made friends easily, loved recipes and created fun family memories with her many “adventures”. She loved to cook, plan, decorate, organize and could turn any event into a reason for a party.
Since childhood she enjoyed reading the obituraries so we knew we’d better do a good job writing this one! Hope you like it Mom! She was preceded in death by her parents Adam Bialy and Zofia (Oblej) Baily. She is survived by her husband Matthew R. Brotko, Daughters Kathy Moran, Amanda Geyer, Pamela Marie Arnold and 7 Grandchildren. All of whom will miss her more than she will ever know.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 6th from 10am-12:30pm at Davenport Funeral Home 149 W. Main Street, Barrington IL 60010
