Longtime resident of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Vivian Hosmer passed away at the age of 74 at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, Illinois after a long illness. Vivian was born in Des Plaines, Illinois May 3, 1942 and attended Main East High School. After retiring from the manufacturing industry, Vivian's life was dedicated to her family. Vivian enjoyed nothing more than working around her house, planting in her garden, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. After marrying her soul mate, Joseph Hosmer, in July, 1960, Vivian settled in Crystal Lake, Illinois to raise her family. As a proud supporter of Crystal Lake Central High School, Vivian always found time to sit and talk, tell a story, or just listen.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph Hosmer; loving mother of John (Michelle) Hosmer; the late Raymond Hosmer; Jeanette Hosmer-Holtzee; and Patricia (Kevin) Duda; much loved grandmother "Backa" to Richard, David, and Dean Hosmer, Austin and Angelina Holtzee, and Kayla and Jack Duda; great-grandmother to Colton Hosmer; beloved daughter of the late Robert and the late Alyce (Schlundt) Riordan; loving sister to Roberta Anderson, the late Patrick Riordan, and Caryn (Gary) Shoffner; and aunt to many nieces and nephews; Mom or Grandma to all who knew her.
The family will be receiving guests from 3pm until 9pm, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Davenport Family Funeral Home 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, Illinois. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 10:30am, Thursday, November 17, 2016, proceeding to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, for a funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park & Nature Sanctuary in Cary, Illinois.
