Walter Kugach, 89, of Barrington, IL passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 23, 1929 in Chicago to Ignatz and Anna Kugach.
Walter worked his entire career in the electronic manufacturing field. As a young man, he began at Motorola with his father, two brothers and his sister. As the company changed hands over the years, he remained and eventually retired there after 40+ years of service. He was drafted and served in the Korean War as part of the United States Army. Walter always wanted to be a doctor and because of this and some college medical classes, he was lucky enough to have been selected as a medic. Walter was an avid gardener and loved to fish. During his family’s younger years in Lombard, he proudly raised pheasants, ducks, geese and chickens. In his later years, he grew a passion for taxidermy. Walter took pride in designing and building his dream home, which he continued to live in with his wife in Barrington. It was a great pleasure to him to develop and maintain a beautiful landscape at the home.
Walter is survived by his bride of 61 years, Olga (nee Hooczko) Kugach; his children, Michael (Vicki) Kugach, Robert (Mary) Kugach, and Bruce Kugach; his grandchildren, Jason, Nick, Kristin, Megan, Bethany, Kelly and Andy; great grandchildren, Sophia, Spencer, Joey and Ethan; and his sister, Lillian Kacura.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Eugene.
