Walter Maule

Village of Lakewood,Walter D. Maule, 81, of the Village of Lakewood, formerly of Libertyville, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at his home. He was born January 3, 1929, in Highland Park, MI to the late David and Sarah (nee Hotchkiss)Maule. A 1947 graduate of Pershing High School in Detroit, Mr. Maule went on to earn his Bachelor?s degree from Central Michigan University, and his MBA from Wayne State University. An Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he obtained the rank of Major. Mr. Maule worked at Allstate for 36 years and retired as Director of Corporate Security in 1989. Upon retirement, he and Mrs. Maule moved to Canton, Georgia, where they lived for 18 years prior to moving to Lakewood. He enjoyed sailing, golfing, and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn (nee McLaren), whom he married December 6, 1957, in Detroit; son, David (Eileen) Maule of Crystal Lake; grandchildren, Tori, Dylan, Joseph, and Jamie Leigh Maule of Crystal Lake; sister, Sheila (William) Faunce of East Lansing, MI; and nieces and nephews, Nancy Hutchinson, Eric Faunce, and Betsy and Tim Bergan. Memorial visitation will be held Sunday, September 12, 2010, from 3 p.m. until the time of eulogy service at 4:30 p.m., at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Please, no flowers. Memorials to the charity of one?s choice, appreciated.
