Walter Mazur

Walter J. Mazur, born November 19, 1937 in Queens, New York, the son of Walter and Helen (nee Fiolek) Mazur, he passed away on January 2, 2017 at the age of 79.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday, January 9, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 Noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington.

Walter was born and raised in New York City. In 1970, he was united in marriage to Helen Gulak. For a brief time, Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Walter and Helen spent time living in New York City, where Walter was the owner of a bar. They moved to Brownsville, Texas for a while, but ultimately laid roots in Elgin, Illinois. Walter was employed with the Grand Victoria Casino for 8 years until his retirement in 2008. Additionally, he was an avid billiards player.

Walter will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Helen; his beloved children, Stacey and Phillip (Elizabeth); his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Addysen; and his sister, Sophie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruno.
