Lyle passed away peacefully April 12, 2018 in Long Grove. He was born December 21, 1947 in Evanston to Warren and Agnes Fountaine.
Lyle spent 45 years as a blacksmith and farrier working primarily with American Saddlebred Horses which require skilled shoeing services. After going to trade school for carpentry an opportunity arose to apprentice with his well- known and respected father in the horseshoeing trade. During the 10 year apprenticeship Lyle proved to be a natural talent with highly skilled horseshoeing and went on to establish a successful career of his own.
Lyle was a proud family man thrilled with having two daughters, two sons-in-law, and later a granddaughter and three grandsons. He loved showing photos of his family and telling others about them. Additionally, Lyle was a dedicated and loyal friend. He possessed humor, caring, generosity, integrity, honesty and with those traits was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Many illnesses and injuries got the best of Lyle’s health in recent years. He struggled valiantly through all the treatments, rehab and surgeries. After enduring months of serious illness he left this life while surrounded by his family.
Lyle is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Cathy; daughters, Jillian (Mark) Readel, and Marisa (Adam) Marton; grandchildren, Amber and Logan Readel, and Andrew and Zachary Marton; sisters, Delores Hansen and Denise Dineen; and brothers, Glenn and Mark Fountaine. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Fountaine and his parents.
Memorial visitation will be held from 9am until the memorial service at 11am, Wednesday April 25 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich. Inurnment will be private.
