Barrington Hills, Illinois,Warren C. Stearns, of Barrington Hills, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at age 70. Born April 2, 1940 in Evanston, IL, the son of Katherine Warren and Charles Brockway Stearns. Warren received a B.A. from Amherst College in 1962 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1964. He began his career as a product manager at Procter & Gamble and later became a pioneering venture capitalist and investment banker. An avid reader, he had a passion for business and adventure. Warren may best be known for financing the successful search and salvaging mission of the Spanish galleon, Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, which was sunk off the coast of the Dominican Republic in 1641. Warren was a dreamer and an outdoorsman. He was a licensee of the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, where he enjoyed skeet shooting with his sons. Warren will be remembered by his children for his fighting spirit and undying optimism. Warren is survived by his loving wife Theresa, six children (Sally McQuillen, Charlie, Rick, Douglas, Christina and Nicolas Stearns) and three stepchildren, Nichole, Chelsea, and Jonathan Lindsay.
