Wayne L. Carrick, PhD, 94 of Long Grove, was born in Arkansas on February 23, 1927 and passed away on November 4, 2021. Wayne joined the Navy right out of high school at the end of WWII. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas earning his PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry.
Wayne worked for Union Carbide and served as Associate Director of Research until 1977 before moving to Illinois as Vice President of Research for Chemplex Co.
He was an avid and excellent bridge player reaching the status of Emerald Life Master. He liked to garden and cook. He traveled extensively all over the world and especially enjoyed cruising. He was also a Chicago sports fan – win or lose!
Those who knew Wayne would describe him as generous, kind, and a devoted family man.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 72 years, Bobbie; his children, David (Tikva), Beverly Reich, Kathryn (Tony) Guerra, Patricia, Kevin (Susan); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Rubow.
Services will be held privately for family.
