Wayne Hoffmann

March 9, 1956 — September 22, 2016

Wayne T. Hoffmann, also known as, “Fester” or “Roy,” of Crystal Lake, passed away on September 22, 2016 at home, surrounded by family and friends. Born March 9, 1956 in Chicago to Jack Wayne and Mary Lou (nee Simmons) Hoffmann; he was 60 years young.

Wayne married the love of his life, Cheryl (nee Reins) in Chicago on December 9, 1978. He was a dedicated fireman/paramedic who continued his education learning new skills on a regular basis. He was a former Oakwood Hills Police Sargent and Riverswood Patrolman. Wayne was a firefighter/paramedic for the City of Des Plaines and was also part of the Crystal Lake Fire Department.

Wayne lived life to the fullest. He loved to golf, ride his motorcycle, and spend time with his family & friends at his home in IL or his summer home in the Wisconsin Dells. He was happiest on his motorcycle with “the guys”. Wayne always thought of others first and you’d often here him ask, “What can I do?”

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Cheryl L. Hoffmann, of Crystal Lake; daughter, Samantha A. Hoffmann, of Crystal Lake; brothers, Steven A. Hoffmann, of Homer Glen and Michael R. Hoffmann, of Chicago; aunt, Susan Frendreis, of Wellington, FL; cousins, Donna Frendreis Blum, of Wellington, FL and Susan Baur, of Chicago; and last but not least, “M” and “J” whom he loved dearly and brightened his life daily.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Mary Lou; paternal grandparents, Lillian and Alphonse Hoffmann; and uncle, James Frendreis.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 3 PM until the time of a fireman/policeman walkthrough service at 7:30 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM at the funeral home.
