Wayne Walker Snider 91, of Barrington, Illinois, formerly of Itasca, Illinois, died peacefully on July 4, 2014, at The Wauconda Care Center. He was born on May 11,1923 in Clearwater, Nebraska to Walter and Hazel (nee Hoffman) Snider. Beloved husband of 68 years to Lavonne (nee Hopkins). Loving father to Roger (Linda), Kathy (Phil), Scott (Ceryl), Kim (Rex), and Karen (Jeff). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and brother-in-law Ken Hopkins of Norfolk, Nebraska. He attended The University of Nebraska where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and remained a life long Cornhusker fan. He was a Captain in the Army Air Corp and served in WWII in the South West Theater, flying in 45 combat missions and receiving The Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. He was employed with United Air Lines for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a true patriot, with a sharp wit and was willing to share his opinion on most any subject. Private services will be held.
