Wilbur J. “Bud” Kanak

Born May 18, 1928 in Chicago, to George and Josephine Kanak. He passed away peacefully February 12, 2016 in Barrington, surrounded by his loving family.

Bud graduated from Northwestern University in 1952, where he met and married his college sweetheart, Carol. They were married for 62 years. He served in the U.S. Army and taught school in California. Bud spent his professional career at Merrill Lynch in Chicago for 38 years, where he retired as Vice President. He loved his family, his dogs, traveling, and a good game of golf.

Bud is survived by his wife, Carol (nee Andre); children, Susan (Dennis) Drolet, Julie (Michael Rigali) Kanak, and Nancy (Jay) Murray; grandchildren, Anne (Matthew) Edwards, Stephen (fiancé Caitlin), Katherine, Lauren, Colleen, and Megan Drolet, Daniel, Jason, Jack, and Michael Rigali, and Sarah, Lauren, Caitlin, Michael, and Matthew Murray; and great grandchildren, Katherine, Margaret, and John Edwards. He was preceded in death by his infant son, David, his parents and brother, George.

Visitation will be 3-8p.m., Monday, Feb. 15 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook), Barrington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Tuesday, Feb. 16 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets), Barrington, where visitation will be held from 9am until the time of the mass. Burial in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines.
