William J. Adams Sr., of Barrington, passed away peacefully on March 13th surrounded by his family. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a great friend to many.
Bill was a Chicago native, he graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas and Fenwick High School, attended the University of Minnesota, and served as a Marine in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954.
He had a long career in the publishing industry where he traveled the world, and was a loved and respected mentor.
Bill loved golf, Notre Dame football, family ski trips, history books, a good political debate, martinis, and any tune that was good for a spontaneous dance.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol (Roscoe), of 52 years; daughter Caroline, son-in-law Jeff, and grandchildren Callie and Will (Seattle, WA); daughter Colette, son-in-law Tom, and grandson Thomas (Elmhurst, IL); son William J Adams Jr. (Palatine, IL); and brother John (Chicago, IL). He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and May, and grandson William Pratt.
Family will receive friends and guests on Friday, March 18, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607.
