Willis Robert Altenburg

Willis Robert Altenburg, known to all as Bill, passed away on October 6, 2024. Bill was born on March 3, 1947 to Willis and Ruth Altenburg of Barrington, Illinois. Bill attended Barrington schools and served his country in the Vietnam War in the 1960's. Bill was a lifelong outdoorsman, loving fishing, boating on the lakes and rivers, and photographing the beauty he saw in nature. He held the unique honor of being a lifelong Barrington resident, living on the same street his whole life. Bill was a storyteller. He knew in detail about the development of the Barrington area, recalling often the areas he and his father fished and hunted in when he was a child. He also loved to recount the trips he and Bonnie made throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Jean Heineman Altenburg, daughter Amy Rohlwing (John), son Jeff, four grandchildren, honorary daughter Evie Eul (Jim), and sister Bonnie Clark (Greg). He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Dave Altenburg
