William “Bill” Francis Collins, age 95, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2015 at The Springs Health Care Center in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Bill was born on May 26, 1920 to John and Margaret (nee Condon) Collins in Chicago.
He lived his early years on the South Side of Chicago, graduating from St. Rita High School. A Navy veteran, Bill proudly served his country from 1944-1946 during WWII. In 1952, he married LaVonne Bigelow, and together they raised five children in the Crystal Lake area since 1963.
Bill was a gentle, loving, kind and compassionate Irishman, who dearly loved his family and many friends. He also enjoyed his treasure of books, his favorite sports teams, and a good Scotch, while we all loved his great sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his loving children, Pat (Andy) Voloch, Dan (Maureen) Collins, Jerry (Patty) Collins, Jack (Anne Marie) Collins, and Kathleen (Mike) Liautaud; grandchildren, Mike, Chris (Nicole), and Megan Voloch; Brian (Allie) and Bridget Collins; Susan and Joanna Collins; John and Angela Collins; Kelly, David, and Julie Liautaud; great-granddaughter, Malena Voloch.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, LaVonne, a grandson, his sister, Margaret , and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Tues., July 14, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
A second visitation will be held on Wed., July 15 from 9–10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10a.m., officiated by Father Brian Grady. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
