Barrington, Illinois,A memorial visitation for William "Bill" Cox, 88, will be from 9 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2010, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Interment will follow in Batavia West Side Cemetery, Batavia. Born November 29, 1921, in Chicago, Bill passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010, at his home. Bill founded Cox Automation in Villa Park in 1966 and ran the company until his retirement in 1985. He was an avid sailor, who enjoyed sailing his boat Leslie Ann on Lake Michigan. Bill was always up for an adventure and was a frequent hiker and explorer. Bill also spent much time woodworking, framing, and volunteering at Clearbrook, where he led a woodworking shop. He received the Volunteer of the Year award from Lakeshore Magazine. Survivors include his cherished grandchildren, Ellen (Michael) Dombrowski Robinson and Scott (Allison) Dombrowski; beloved great-grandson, William Biser Dombrowski; and sister-in-law, Sally Woolley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia C. Cox (nee Coburn); and daughter, Leslie Ann Dombrowski.
