William J. Downey, Jr., 89, of Woodstock passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Unit, Woodstock.
Born April 20,1923, in New York City to the late William and Elizabeth (nee Naughton), he married Elizabeth Binkowski on April 14,1956 in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Allen Park, MI.
William served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War, received his Bachelor's degree from Southeastern University in Washington, D.C., went on to become a Special Agent for the FBI and, upon retirement from the FBI, worked as a security investigator for The Northern Trust.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, survivors include his sons, William III (Beatriz), Kenneth (Karen), and Thomas (Mary); daughter Karen Rogers; and grandchildren, Amanda and Alicia Rogers and Sumayah and Alexander Downey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Elizabeth Parker.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7 from 2-5 p.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake.
An inurnment will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
