William "Bill" Grey

Biography

Bill Grey, 55, of Harvard passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his home surrounded by family, after a long illness.

He was born November 12, 1958 in Park Ridge to the late Lawrence O. Sr. and Verna F. (nee Parkhurst) Grey. He married Katherina M. Sitzer on April 24, 2004 at Holy Apostles Church, McHenry.

Bill’s passions were music, art, and history—especially the Civil War. He was a graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School and McHenry County College where he majored in art.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy; siblings, John Grey, Patricia (Richard) Reynolds, Thomas Grey, and Lawrence Grey Jr.; stepmom, Marilyn Grey; mother-in-law, Martha Sitzer; brother-in-law, Thomas F. (Vicki) Sitzer; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Nancy Grey and many aunts and uncles.

The visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. There will also be a visitation from 8:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10 at the funeral home. Father Steven Clark will be the celebrant. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name may be made to the McHenry County Civil War Round Table Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1865, McHenry, IL 60051 or the Civil War Trust, www.civilwar.org.
