William Harrer

William “Bill” Harrer, Sr., 77, of Harvard recently of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2016. He was born on May 13, 1939 in Chicago to Matthew and Ruth (nee King) Harrer.
Bill was a manager for information systems at Kemper Insurance for 36 years until he retired. He was also an Eagle Scout and was a Boy Scout Troop leader for many years. Bill loved the water and spent his time sailing, fishing and water skiing as well as woodworking and using the computer.
Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 22 years, Jean (nee McDearmon); his children, Bill Jr. (Anna) Harrer, Rosie (Steve) Regul and Maria (Steve) Hanisch; grandchildren, Julianna, Katrina, Adira, Louis and Max; his siblings, Matt Harrer, Joyce (Art) Phillips, Jim (Sue) Harrer, Pat (Gerry) Guenther, Cathy (Wayne) Karg, Michael (Leslie) Harrer and Steve Harrer. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, June 5, from 3 PM until the 6 PM memorial service at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL. Interment will be private.
