William Martens Jr

William D. Martens, Jr., 81, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at his home in Crystal Lake.

Born on January 7, 1931 in Chicago, he was the son of the late William D., Sr. and Edith (nee Gartzke) Martens. On July 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to Suzanne Gathercoal in River Grove.

In addition to his wife Suzanne, William is survived by his son Scott (Debbie) Martens; his sisters, Eileen Pedersen, Bernice (Paul) Zachara, and Virginia Niemann; his sisters-in-law Emma and Mae Martens; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Norman and Kenneth Martens and brothers-in-law Pete Pederson and Glen Niemann.

The visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Wednesday, May 2 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue at the funeral home Thursday, May 3 from 10am until the service at 11am. Interment will be private in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst.
