William Rooney

The funeral service for William E. Rooney, 78, will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington, where there will be visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at 12 p.m. Monday, April 11, Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York.

Born December 2, 1932, in Troy, New York, he passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at his home.

He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College, both in Troy. Mr. Rooney was a member of St. Anne Church, Barrington for 24 years, where he was an usher for 19 years, and was a member of the board of directors of White Cemetery in Cuba Township.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary (nee Jackson); and son, William E. Rooney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Mary (nee Delehanty) Rooney; and sisters, Mary Ellen Kirby and Josephine Singleton.
