How did we get so lucky?
This incredible man took care of us, loved us unconditionally, took away our worries, made us laugh, gave us all that was his. Above all, he loved our mother beyond measure.
We are heartbroken. We want him here with us, yet we know that he'll forever be in the hearts of all who he loved and who loved him.
He's still loving us, taking care of us, taking our worries away, but now he's doing his job from his special place in Heaven. Always our angel. Always in our hearts. Always remembered.

William Jorgen Schmidt, first son of Edith and William; loving husband to Fern; caring brother to Dorothy, Bob, and Frank; beloved father to Carrie (Dave), Cathy (Bob), Bill, and Dan (Amy); amazing and joyful grandfather to Kevin, Jeff (Esther), Evan, Bobby, and Annie.
Additionally, a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, and greatest Cub and Bears fan ever!
A celebration of his life will be held in September.
