William George Spaletto

William G. Spaletto, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Bill was born on November 3, 1941 in Chicago to Joseph and Laura Spaletto. He graduated from Austin High School then attended Northern Illinois University, where he received a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Education.

His career was full of milestones and achievements. Most notably, he was a professor and a gymnastics coach at Northern Illinois University, P.E. Department Chair at Hoffman Estates High School coupled with coaching golf and track. He also enjoyed teaching golf classes at Harper College as well as teaching at St. Theresa Catholic School in his retirement.

Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and fishing, especially if these experiences included his grandchildren.

Bill and his wife, Mary Ann (nee Pecucci), were married for 58 years. His greatest source of joy and happiness were his children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; his sons, Steve (Jeanne) and Todd (Pam) Spaletto; grandchildren, Nick, Matt, Tommy, Joey, and Annie Spaletto; brother, John (Janet) Spaletto; sisters, Chris Spaletto and Dori Strecker; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial visitation for Bill will be on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 1:30pm until the time of mass at 3pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness, IL. Committal will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Advocate Charitable Foundation (designate for Advocate Hospice).
