William "Bill" B. Nurre

February 18, 1944 — July 14, 2019

Davenport Barrington

William “Bill” Bernard Nurre, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2019 at the age of 75. He was born on February 18, 1944 in Corvallis, Oregon to Bernard and Evelyn (nee Larkey) Nurre.

Bill loved to travel the world, tell stories, and most of all, make people laugh.

Along with his kid sister, Nancy, he grew up in Oakland California.  He graduated from Fremont High School, where he met Bonnie (nee Carlstrom) who would later become his wife.

While attending Oakland City College, where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Beta fraternity, he served in the Army National Guard. Bill also was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity while pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley – an alma mater he would cheer on any chance he could.

After working while completing a Bachelor of Foreign Trade Degree from Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management, Bill and Bonnie uprooted from California and moved to the Midwest to continue Bill’s career in banking and finance.  While helping to raise twin sons, Bill enjoyed a successful career where he was highly respected among his peers.

Bill held positions as Vice President and Division Administrator for the Asia Pacific Division of the Harris Bank and Vice President and Manager of the First National Bank that moved the family to Canada and Texas before returning to Chicago.

After serving as Vice President and Senior Banker in the Public Banking Department of First Chicago Capital Markets and Senior Vice President and Joint General Manager of the Dai Ichi Kangyo Bank, he moved to Eagle Pitcher Personal Injury Settlement Trust. He retired as the Executive Director of the Trust and CEO of Claims Processing Center in 2015.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Bonnie; sons Christopher and Matthew (Stephanie), granddaughter Zoe Loeppert, and brother-in-law John Callaghan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Brigadier General Bernard A. and Evelyn Nurre.  His sister, Nancy Callaghan, passed away in the fall of 2018.

Services for Bill will be privately held.
