Winston "Wynn" Rowley, age 93 died at his home on Monday, April 21, 2014. His wish never to leave the house he built 44 years earlier was fulfilled with the help of the love of his life Ann, who was always at his side.
Last October, Wynn and Ann celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary honoring a life full of joy and devotion. Their story began in the 1940's in Maywood. Their dreams of having a family and a house took them to then rural Addison in the early 1950's where Wynn built their first house with the help of his father in law. When the town grew larger, Wynn yearned for the country life once more. They moved to Bull Valley in 1970 and once again he was hands on in the construction of the family home. Wynn loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed taking care of the hundreds of trees he planted over the years.
A machine gunner in World War II with 3 bronze stars awarded for battle, Wynn's passion for marksmanship continued throughout his life as an avid hunter and sport trap shooter.
Although a machinist by trade, Wynn leveraged his home building experience into a real estate career in 1974 and soon attained his broker's license and a taste for development.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ann; two daughters Barbara and Susan; son Stephen; four grandchildren and one great grand child.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 3350 Riverwood Parkway, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30339.
